Project Description

MIA Renewal Alliance (MIARA), is undertaking a modernization program for off-farm and on-farm water delivery infrastructure within the Murrumbidgee Irrigation Area (MIA) in an area of 80586 square kilometres.

The MIA Renewal Alliance was set up to plan, design and deliver modernization projects throughout the Murrumbidgee Irrigation Area, and to provide an automated delivery system in order to improve water access and efficiency.

The first two major projects to be completed by the Alliance include the Hanwood Modernization Project and Lake Wyangan Modernization Project, which includes the upgrades to existing lined sections of the Lake View Branch Canal (LVBC), gravity piping of southern area laterals, channel automation and replacement of Lethbridge meter outlets.
